Heather Boonstra
Reflective Practitioner
Heather brings more than 30 years of experience in the social service orientated nonprofit sector to her role as Imagine Institute’s Reflective Practitioner. Her expertise is grounded in trauma-informed community-based practice, and in decades of collaboration with work teams, volunteers, funders, donors, and community partners. Her greatest teachers have been the individuals, children, youth and families who entrusted her with their stories and lived experiences throughout this time.
Heather believes that every person, family, and organization carries a meaningful story—one that deserves to be heard and received with care and respect. This commitment to reciprocity and learning informs her work with Imagine in her role as a Reflective Practitioner, where she is able to support a culture that embeds evaluation into daily practice; where curiosity is encouraged, and teams feel safe to be vulnerable, test new approaches, and adapt based on reflection and learning.
