During training participants will explore hoarding behaviour and hoarding disorder and build a compassionate lens by understanding how trauma can play a role. Examine the hoarding scale and how to identify early stage hoarding behaviours and the best practices on how to tackle some of the challenges around hoarding, excessive acquisition and excessive collecting.

Learning Objectives

  • Build a working understanding of the element of trauma-informed practices as they relate to hoarding.
  • Reframe judgment with understanding the responses that are met through hoarding.
  • Build awareness of how to use the hoarding scale to identify opportunities of support.

  • Discuss strength-based collaboration and connection for individuals living with hoarding.
  • Strengthen capacity to implement practices that support needs of individuals living with hoarding.
  • Engage in conversation and experiences of those that support mental health connected to hoarding practices.
